Ordinary Phones Can Be up to 50 Percent Expensive: The Department of Telecom (DoT) has rejected the demand of handset manufacturers to use alternate technology instead of GPS in low-cost mobile phones. Following this, he has cited the safety of consumers, especially women. While the industry has cautioned that this decision will increase prices of Ordinary Phones Can Be up to 50 Percent Expensive.
The Government has made it mandatory to install Global Positioning System (GPS) in all mobile phones sold in the country from January 1, 2018. Its purpose is to find the subscriber in emergency situations. Dot answered the Indian Cellular Association (ICA), the organization of mobile companies. In this, the department has said that in emergencies, the GPS is the main tool for the details of the subscriber's location. So, the government has decided to implement it in a positive manner in all mobile phone handsets from January 1, 2018. In view of this, the manufacturers have to follow the notification issued on April 22, 2016, for implementation of GPS facility in all mobile phone handsets.

The ICA, which represented most of the mobile companies in the country, wrote a letter to the government to use A-GPS technology. This technology helps people who call the caller using mobile towers located near their location. However, Dot has said that the method used to locate the caller with the help of mobile towers is not very accurate. All mobile handsets have been mandated to protect the security of the particular GPS, especially women.

When the President of ICA Pankaj Mohindroo was contacted, he said that the cost of Ordinary Phones Can Be up to 50 Percent Expensive. The reason is that to connect the GPS system, the better configuration will be needed.
